Maine Coon Cat Breed
The Maine Coon is one of the largest domesticated cat breeds, known for its friendly personality and tufted ears.

Originating from the northeastern United States, specifically Maine, this breed has a rich history and distinctive features that make it a favorite among cat enthusiasts.
Size: Maine Coons are known for their large size. Males typically weigh between 13-18 pounds, while females weigh 8-12 pounds.

Fur: They have a long, shaggy coat that is water-repellent, with a dense undercoat for insulation. Their fur comes in a variety of colors and patterns.

Ears: One of their most distinctive features is their large, tufted ears with furry tufts at the tips, resembling a lynx.

Tail: They possess a long, bushy tail that helps them balance and stay warm in cold weather.
Maine Coons are known for their docile and affectionate nature.

They are often described as "gentle giants" due to their playful, friendly demeanor.

This breed tends to get along well with children and other pets, making them an ideal family companion.

They are also intelligent and can be trained to follow commands or play fetch.
Grooming: Regular grooming is essential to prevent matting, especially in their thick fur. A weekly brush is usually sufficient, but during shedding seasons, more frequent grooming may be necessary.

Diet: A balanced diet formulated for large breeds is important for maintaining their health. Ensure they have access to fresh water at all times.

Health: Maine Coons are generally healthy but can be prone to certain genetic conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Regular veterinary check-ups are crucial for early detection of any health issues.
Maine Coons adapt well to various living environments, including apartments and homes with yards.

They enjoy interactive play and mental stimulation, so providing toys and engaging activities is essential.

They are also known to enjoy playing in water, which is unusual for most cat breeds.

The Maine Coons  live  12-15+ years.  They are very playful and curious. They are always looking for things to chase around the house. They all seem to love the small aluminum crinkle balls and coils.

They are kind and love attention. Please be sure your children treat them with kindness. They are very nosey and always want to know what you are doing. They seem to think they can help you with your chores.

These kitties are very playful and lots of fun to watch. They have lots of furriness, tufted ears, full mane, long snout, shaggy weatherproof coat and bushy tail. The manes of the cats' sheds and comes back a few times a year. The head is large with big ears and expressive eyes that are wide set. They usually weigh up to 25 lbs. Sometimes females can grow larger than males. Their bodies can stretch up to 40 inches in length. Everybody wants a Maine Coon for its size, but please keep in mind that any cat carrying excess weight can have heart issues and hip issues if they are too big. Keep them healthy so they can be around for many years.

We also bring in Polydactyl Maine Coons. This means they have extra toes. Sometimes 6 or 7 instead of 5. There are variations with POLY kittens and it is best to research before purchasing one. These are normally more expensive and are not as common as regular pawed Maine Coons. I do love how large the paws are!!.

Sometimes we have odd-eyed kittens. They are usually a little more due to this feature. They are not easy to come by.
